An Excerpt — Coffee at Valley Bean

Chapter One

By six-thirty, Valley Bean was already too full.

Not technically. But Emma had stopped thinking in complete sentences around five forty-five, and found the morning moved better without them.

Outside, the festival crew was already chalking lane markers on the square. Three days until Saturday. The whole town had that pre-festival quality — a collective acceleration, everyone quietly agreeing to move faster and say less about why.

The bell above the door kept ringing. Milk screamed under the steam wand. Someone near the pastry case wanted to know if the blueberry muffins were fresh.

“They came out twenty minutes ago,” Emma said. “So unless time works differently in Rowan Valley, yes.”

About Jenna

Cozy small-town love, one cup at a time.

Jenna Westfield writes contemporary small-town romance set in the Pacific Northwest — stories built around the places a town gathers: the corner café, the flower shop on Main Street, the bookstore that knows everyone’s name. Her love stories are slow-burning, gentle, and quietly hopeful.

Her Rowan Valley series follows the people of one rainy little town as they fall — carefully, stubbornly, completely — for the person who was there all along. When she isn’t writing, she’s chasing good coffee, collecting overheard conversations, and pretending the rain is good for her.
